Our History

Student takes notes in his notebook while working on his computer

In 1999, our family responded to a crisis faced by an incoming college freshman. The student was at risk of losing an academic scholarship simply because they couldn’t afford a meal plan. We gave $1,000 from our savings so they could focus on their future and avoid becoming one of the many students who drop out due to unmet basic needs.

Since then, we’ve had the privilege of supporting over 20 college students with stipends ranging from $350 to $1,000. These funds help cover food, transportation, technology, school supplies, and other essential needs that often stand in the way of earning a degree or certification.
