Our History

Student takes notes in his notebook while working on his computer

In 1999 my husband and I responded to a family member considering forfeiting a college academic scholarship because he didn't have the funds to purchase a meal ticket. My husband and I gave him a $1000 from our savings, thus enabling him to focus on his studies studies and preventing another African American from dropping out of college because of their inability to meet a basic need.

Since that time, we have provided stipends for approximately 20 college students, ranging from $350-$1000 to cover basic needs including food, transportation, technology, school supplies, dorm room necessities, and other costs that often derail student from completing their certification/degrees.
